The biggest factor is how often you fly. The less time between flights, the better your retention and mastery of the previous flight, which enables you to move on to the next task more quickly. Someone who flies 2-3 times per week will earn their license much more quickly and with fewer total hours than someone who flies 2-3 times per month. But either way is ok! The important thing is that you start making your dream a reality!
The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours flight time with specific types of flying time completed, such as solo, cross country, night time, instrument time, and checkride standard flying proficiency. The number of hours it takes is mostly up to your effort, aptitude and commitment. You could be a fully licensed Private Pilot in only 2-3 months if you want!
No. You will use a state-of-the-art home study course from an App on your computer, tablet, or phone, which contains great in-flight footage, vivid graphics and animations, quizzes and reviews. It covers everything you need to know to help you fly and pass your written and oral test. You will be using this course along with your flying. Additionally, you will receive some one on one ground instruction to connect the dots between your ground school class and your flight instruction, as well as topics from the App series to make sure you always have a clear understanding of the subject matter.
